Salt Lake City definitely makes my list of the top cities to travel to in the United States! From the friendly locals, jaw-dropping mountain views, the culinary scene, and the great shopping, there’s something for everyone! Here’s a guide of where to stay in Salt Lake City while visiting.
Hotels in Salt Lake City
There are so many different types of hotels and vacation rentals to choose from in downtown Salt Lake City area so choosing where to stay in Salt Lake City may be a bit overwhelming. A few popular htoels include the Little America Hotel, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco, Marriott City Center, and the Sheraton Salt Lake City Hotel.
However, if you want to elevate your trip to SLC, book a room at the Grand America Hotel and you won’t be disappointed! When I first started researching where to stay during my trip, I started with the reviews like I always do. After reading just three reviews of the Grand America Hotel, I knew this was the place!

Things To Do In Salt Lake City At The Grand America Hotel
The Grand America Hotel was much more than just a bed to sleep in at night, it was a complete experience! Here’s all the things to do in Salt Lake City at the Grand America Hotel-
- Enjoy Spa Services at The Grand Spa
- Relax in the Sauna
- Enjoy the hot tub/pool
- Explore the Jou Jou Toy Store
- Workout at the 24-Hour Fitness Center
- Enjoy the outdoors at The Center Courtyard
- Shop at all the men’s and women’s retail shops
- Listen to nightly live music in the lobby lounge- Each night they have different musicians come and play in the lobby. We watched an excellent piano player one night and the next day an outstanding harp musician. Also, this is free to do!
- Get a massage at the Grand America Spa
In addition to all the activities on-site at the Grand America Hotel, there are plenty of sightseeing opportunities due to the hotels location right downtown. A few places within walking distance include City Creek Shopping Center, Temple Square, Capitol Theatre, Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, and the the Salt Palace Convention Center.
The Utah State Capitol is a bit far so I would recommend taking the short train ride to visit. Free parking is hard to come by in Salt Lake City so if you’re looking to save a little money, either walk, take the train, or Uber/Lyft.

Where To Eat In & Near The Grand America Hotel
If you stay at the Grand America Hotel during your vacation, I recommend eating breakfast at the Little America Hotel, just right across the street. The Little America Hotel has an insane breakfast buffet that you NEED to experience! Plus, the restaurant itself is very cozy and the prices are reasonable. Pro-Tip- Ask for a table right next to one of the fireplaces.
Dining Options At The Grand America Hotel
There are so many options when it comes to dining! I’ve taken these descriptions right from their website because there was no way that I could create as drool-worthy descriptions as they did!
Garden Café- “With a refined American menu, the Garden Café elevates classic dishes with ingredients as innovative as they are fresh. Think kitchen-made bread. The house’s mozzarella. Vibrant fruit and sweet root juices. Delightful for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.“
La Bonne Vie– “Pastel macarons in endless tints and tastes. Lemon chiffon tarts. Golden croissants and genuine gelato. La Bonne Vie shamelessly spoils our guests with in-house treats—and room-service delivery. You need no excuse to indulge.”
Sunday Brunch– “From internationally inspired small plates to perfectly artistic pastries, the Garden Café’s Sunday brunch aims to inspire with our chefs’ culinary creativity. With a buffet this grand, half the fun is wondering where to begin and why your appetite can’t be endless.“
Lobby Lounge– “The atmosphere is relaxed. But the options in our Lobby Lounge are incredibly full. Enjoy a leisurely continental breakfast with your morning news. Stop by for lunch from our all-day menu. Savor an afternoon pastry. Or cozy up by the crackling fireplace to unwind with coffee, cocktails, and loosen-your-tie live jazz on weekend nights.“
Afternoon Tea– “Enjoy everything elegant as you settle into the comfort of our Lobby Lounge. Exotic teas and cocoas. Delicate savories. Sweets and scones with clotted cream. The strains of salon music and chitchat with friends make any afternoon divine.”
Gibson Lounge– “The Gibson Girl originals that grace our walls seem to give a consenting nod to the sophistication that surrounds them. Stop in for leisurely drinks and hors d’oeuvres. The Gibson Lounge radiates turn-of-the-century panache.“
In-Room Dining– “From a light snack to a gourmet meal, enjoy delicious cuisine with the privacy and convenience of 24-hour in-room dining.“
