Are you planning a Girls Weekend in Charleston South Carolina? Whether you’re celebrating a graduation, a bachelorette party, or just life in general. Here are 9 photo-worthy things to do for your girlfriends getaway! Be sure to add this to your girls weekend Charleston SC itinerary.
1. Have a beach picnic
The first thing to add to your Charleston weekend itinerary is a beach picnic! There are plenty of beaches around Charleston.
But for a picture-perfect beach picnic for a girls weekend in Charleston, you need to choose one that is local, has beautiful views, and not overrun by the crowds. Cue Folly Beach.
This was the perfect spot to have that drool-worthy picnic that we’ve all seen in the movies. Sipping on our drinks watching the sun go down was the perfect way to end a day in Charleston with all my gal pals.
You’ll want to pack beach towels, pillows, beach bags, and a great sun hat. Don’t forget to pack the cups, silverware (a sharp knife if you need to cut the food), and napkins.
2. Enjoy a sailboat ride in Charleston
What’s not to love about sailing in the Charleston Harbor with your girlfriends? This is such an excellent thing to do during your weekend getaway.
With the Schooner Pride, you can choose either a dolphin sail or a sunset cruise. I would recommend going with the sunset cruise because not only do you get those golden hour skies, you might get lucky and also see dolphins!
That was the case for us as we had two dolphin friends jump along the boat for several moments during our cruise.

3. Go on a carriage tour
Of course you need to take a carriage ride through the downright charming streets of Charleston during your girls weekend! We went with The Carolina Polo & Carriage Co. because their tour guides are local (and hilarious)! Head over to their website to secure your dates.
It was the perfect afternoon with some of my favorite people learning about the rich history & culture of downtown Charleston. The tours last about an hour and you’ll be able to see sites such as King Street and Rainbow Row along with historic churches and cemeteries.
I share more information about this carriage ride in my article about the best tours in Charleston!
4. Splurge on the food in Charleston
You can’t come to Charleston and not enjoy all the food that they have to offer! One of the best ways to get a taste of the local cuisine is booking a Culinary Tour. If you prefer to do it yourselves though, I recommend hitting up these local, instagram-worthy locations–
- Coastal Crust
- Fleet Landing Restaurant & Bar
- Charleston Harbor Fish House
- Stars Rooftop & Grill Room
- California Dreaming Restaurant and Bar
- Carolina Ale House
- The Vendue Rooftop
- Husk Restaurant
- Blossom (perfect for bachelorette weekend in Charleston SC with their cute interior with daily happy hour)
- 167 Raw
5. Sit poolside with the girls
The next thing to do on this girls weekend travel guide is sitting poolside on a hot day! Booking an accommodation in Charleston that doesn’t have an outdoor pool should be criminal.
Not only is it typically pool-weather, it’s a fantastic way to unwind with the girls during a girls weekend in Charleston.
Make sure to pack your sunglasses, a sun hat, snacks, drinks, and a good book to read! If you have a small, portable music speaker like this one, even better!

6. Rent a moke to cruise with the gals
Nothing could be more fun than renting a moke for your girls trip to Charleston! A moke is an electric vehicle that to me, somewhat is a mix between a jeep and a luxury golf cart.
These things are street legal on most non-highway roads, so it makes it an inexpensive and environmentally-friendly way to see the area.
I would rent a moke through Slow Ride Charleston because the owner is great to work with and it’s the best deal in town.
Just imagine you and your girlfriends cruising through quaint neighborhoods and along the beach in this photo-worthy ride!

7. Explore Downtown Charleston
Gather up all the girls and explore downtown Charleston one day during your girlfriend getaway. If you are there during the hot months, shoot for a morning walk through the area or it’ll be miserable walking in the hot sun (when you’d rather be sitting at one of the many spas in Charleston sc).
This would be a great thing to add to your downtown Charleston bachelorette party ideas list as there is so much shopping in this area!
Bring a bag large enough to fit all your purchases in. In my opinion, some of the best shops include the Shops at Charleston Place, House of Sage, Las Olas, Charleston City Market, and of course the Charleston Farmers Market.
Photo hack– Wear your walking shoes but pack cute shoes to slip on when you get to a spot where you want a photo at.
8. Pick the perfect accommodation
There are so many Charleston hotels where do you even get started? When choosing an accommodation in Charleston there are a few things you should keep in mind.
First, you need to decide if you and your group will be wanting to spend more time in the city or on the beach.
If you said the city, then I would choose an accommodation in the heart of historic downtown. A couple instagram-worthy hotels in Charleston include Planters Inn, The Spectator Hotel, The Mills House, Restoration Hotel, and Zero George. I use this site to get the best rates on hotels.
If you think you and your crew will pass more time away on the beach, then I would say you should get a beach house rental either on Folly Beach, Sullivan’s Island, or Isle of Palms.
I stayed in a beautiful Airbnb designed by Seersucker Cottage who exclusively does interior design for vacation rentals and short-term properties. Seriously, this place was made for a instagram-worthy trip to Charleston. If you’ve got a short-term rental property that you need help designing, hire them to help you design that space to get it photo-worthy for your guests!

9. Watch a sunset at the beach
At least one of the nights during your girls weekend in Charleston, you must catch a sunset at the beach. Several of the best beaches in Charleston to see a sunset at include Folly Beach, Sullivan’s Island, and Isle of Palms.
I hope you enjoy your time in Charleston! I know that this has been my best girls trip to date 🙂
