Part Time Tourists- Sheraton Desert Oasis- Weekend Getaway to Scottsdale, Arizona

Last week we traveled to Arizona to explore the ever famous Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon but had a free day that we wanted to spend near Phoenix before our flight took off.

After exploring the surrounding area on google maps we stumbled onto Scottsdale, Arizona. It wasn’t long after that that we found Sheraton Desert Oasis. One word to describe our stay at Sheraton Desert Oasis would have to be RELAXING! (more on that below)

Where To Stay In Scottsdale

The day before we arrived in Scottsdale, Arizona we had been adventuring in Page, Flagstaff, and Sedona. With all the hiking, hot sun, and long days we were very much in need of a place to relax. *Cue Sheraton Desert Oasis*

If I had to describe this resort in one word it would be Heaven on Earth (three words but you get the jist). From the very moment that you check in with the ever so welcoming staff to the moment you leave you’ll forget about the cares of the world and all the stresses of life will disappear.

Why Visit Scottsdale?

Scottsdale is known for the insane amount of sunlight that they receive each year. It is one of the top cities in the United States for the amount of sun days that they are blessed with. Check out this Guide for the Best Things To Do In Scottsdale!

So if you are anything like us and get the winter blues as soon as the weather starts to cool down, this will be the perfect spot to travel to. I was amazed that I could walk around in a sun dress and have no problem getting into the pool…in October!

As Idaho kids, that is crazy! We enjoyed ordering fruit smoothies (personal favorite was the mango) and sun bathing next to the pool. Swimsuit on, smoothie in hand, book nearby… pure bliss.

This city is only about a 20 minute drive from the Phoenix Airport. So whether you are renting a car, catching an uber, or taking a shuttle, it’s quite easy to get to this resort.

We rented our car from Turo, which is basically just like airbnb, but for cars. The process was incredibly easy. They met us right outside of our terminal with the car and a full tank of gas. We simply met them back at the departure terminal when we left. SO SIMPLE. If you are looking to try it out, use our coupon for $25 off your first ride.

Best Resort in Scottsdale

Like we said earlier, we were looking for a place to relax and forget about the outside world and this resort helped us do just that. Below are some of the top ways that we were able to relax during our stay:

  • Soaked in their large hot tub at night (very romantic and the perfect way to end a day)
  • Sat poolside in their lounge chairs and caught some rays
  • Drank smoothies to our hearts’ content (they have so many different flavors)
  • Enjoyed the best poolside food!
  • Swam in the relaxation pool outside of our villa
  • Curled up by the fireplace at night and watched TV
  • Slept in (so easy to do with their comfortable beds)
  • Bathed in the whirlpool tub
  • Ate breakfast on our private patio

Need we go on?! We HIGHLY recommend this resort when you are needing a relaxing getaway!

P.S. No need to buy a plane ticket to Hawaii to play behind a waterfall! We enjoyed soaking in the large hot tub with the sound of cascading water. It was so peaceful that we almost fell asleep…don’t do that! haha

The day that we had to pack up and leave to the airport we slept in, ordered a nice breakfast on-site, and slowly started gathering our things. It was so sad leaving this oasis and we are already dreaming about the chance to go back and visit someday.

We’ve been able to stay at many different resorts during our travels, but this one will always hold a special place in our hearts.
