Things To Look For In a Hotel Part 1

Here are all the things that I look for in a hotel when I book a hotel room with a baby or toddler!

1. Sinks make perfect tubs for small babies and it’s easier to hold them as the parent.

2. Bathtubs are my favorite bath spot for when babies are a little bigger because I’m not too fond of showering a slippery baby by myself.

Check out the list of my favorite travel bathtubs!

3. On-site restaurants are AMAZING when traveling with a baby! It’s sometimes difficult to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a baby at a restaurant in a single day 😵‍💫 so having one meal that you just have to walk downstairs to and can easily come back if there is a baby meltdown is so nice!

4. I like to get the baby at least one hotel nap a day, preferably the first one. This is why I love it when hotels have breakfast because I don’t have to leave for a breakfast reservation and throw off the first nap of the day.

5. A sink outside the bathroom is so nice for washing bottles! Of course, I’m sure the water is the same as the in-bathroom sink, but having it further away from the toilet just makes it seem a little more sanitary to me 😂 I use this travel bottle cleaning kit (don’t forget to get this travel soap, too)!

6. A microwave and mini are gold when it comes to storing breast milk, making bottles, or storing snacks.

7. Having access to laundry facilities is pretty spectacular because babies are messy 🤷‍♀️

8. Such a nice touch to have a store inside for those swim diapers you forgot at home or that late-night ice cream run we all deserve from vacationing with a baby 😜

9. I prefer to be nearby attractions I want to see so I don’t have to load baby in the car every time we go out, we can simply hop in the stroller and take a walk! Take a peek at my favorite travel strollers.

10. So you’ve got about 45 mins before bedtime. Not enough time to go out before the baby falls asleep but also a long time to just chill in the hotel room. This is when I love hotels that offer on-site activities or cool places to relax- like outdoor fire pits!

11. Check out room layouts before you book!

12. Adjoining rooms are amazing for naps! 👏

13. A HEATED pool…enough said 🙌

Hotel Sleep Tips For Babies and Toddlers

The very first thing I do when I get to the hotel is set up my Slumberpod and travel bed. When Briggs was 0-5 months, I used this travel bassinet. After five months, I switched to this travel crib and it’s been great!

There are a lot of tools that help us have a successful vacation but I will say that the SlumberPod is one of my favorites! Because when baby doesn’t sleep well, nobody sleeps well! 😴

When Briggs was a baby he would take 4-5 naps a day and it was amazing being able to put him down in my same room and not feel like a pack play in the bathroom was my only option (but hey, I’m sure that works 🤷‍♀️). Even when he’s a toddler, I still use the SlumberPod on vacations.

At night time we are able to stay up and play cards across the room while he sleeps in his pod with a sound machine nearby. This is a must when traveling with a baby in a hotel! 👏

I’ve had two different travel beds for Briggs. The first one was when he was 0-5 months and the next one will last him into his toddler years. You can check out those beds here! Tap the video below to learn more about the two travel beds that I use.
