If you’re looking for a family-friendly vacation destination, the Lopesan Costa Bávaro resort in the Dominican Republic is definitely worth considering. This luxurious resort boasts a wide range of amenities that are sure to keep both kids and adults entertained throughout their stay. We took our toddler there in Feb 2023 and want to share our experience for those looking for a tropical escape to an all-inclusive resort. My focus will be on the baby & toddler-friendly amenities that will help parents have the best possible vacation with their little travel buddies.

The top quality that I appreciated in this resort was how friendly the staff was to Briggs. We were really amazed that they would go out of their way to say hi, give him a high five or even just smile at him. This can be rare when traveling to luxurious resorts so we really appreciated that he was welcome here. One day during lunch one of the attendants noticed that Briggs was really interested in a nearby kitten and walked him around the outskirts of the outdoor restaurant to follow the cat.

In addition to the six pools, one of the standout features of the Lopesan Costa Bávaro resort is its on-site waterpark. This expansive waterpark includes multiple slides and a splash pad nearby making it the perfect place to cool off and have some fun in the sun. With lifeguards on duty and plenty of seating and shade available, this is a great spot to hangout for parents with young kids.

Another family-friendly amenity at the resort is the many baby & toddler amenities like the option to rent cribs for young children. This makes it easy for parents to travel with their little ones without having to worry about lugging heavy equipment through the airport. The resort also offers a variety of other baby-friendly services, including high chairs in the restaurants and a kids’ club (4 years old and older) where children can participate in supervised activities while parents enjoy some time alone. They also offer babysitting services on-site for an extra fee.

Speaking of the kids’ club, it’s definitely worth mentioning as another great family-friendly feature of the Lopesan Costa Bávaro resort. This club is designed specifically for children aged 4-12 and offers a variety of games, crafts, and activities to keep them entertained throughout the day. With an indoor play area, outdoor playground, and daily schedule of events, kids are sure to have a blast while making new friends and memories.

There is also an arcade and bowling alley at the resort. My toddler really loved several of the arcade games and it was nice one afternoon to escape the heat and play here. For the bowling, he was not tall enough to participate but older kids would be able to.

The resort sits on the stunning Bavaro Beach, which is widely regarded as the most beautiful beach in the Dominican Republic. With its turquoise waters, powdery white sand, and swaying palm trees, this beach is the perfect place to relax and unwind while soaking up the Caribbean sun. We loved that we also found lounge chairs and umbrellas making it easy to go to the beach with a toddler without worried about him getting burnt. When we were there, there was some seaweed along the shoreline and about the first two feet of water. After that, the seaweed cleared up.

The Lopesan Costa Bavaro resort has a range of restaurants to suit every taste and craving (even for those picky toddlers). With six à la carte restaurants, a buffet restaurant, and several bars and cafes, guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining options. Make sure to book reservations for dinner ahead of your stay to ensure you have your choice of dining time.

One of the restaurants at the resort is Gondola, an Italian restaurant that serves up delicious dishes like homemade pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and fresh seafood. For those in the mood for some sushi, the Inari restaurant is a must-visit. This Japanese fusion restaurant serves up a range of sushi rolls, fried rice, cooked meats and more. My toddler really enjoyed watching them prepare our meal in front of us.

The last thing I want to mention is the free room service! This is so amazing to have when traveling with babies and toddlers because as parents know, sometimes its just easier dining in the room than getting to a restaurant. We utilized this service twice. Once for lunch when it was getting close to naptime and our toddler wasn’t going to make it through an entire meal. The other time when our toddler went to bed and my husband and I were wanting dessert.

Overall, the Lopesan Costa Bavaro resort in the Dominican Republic is a fantastic option for families looking for a luxurious, all-inclusive vacation that offers plenty of amenities for both kids and adults. With its on-site waterpark, baby-friendly services, kids’ club, and range of restaurants, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
