9. Craters of the moon

This otherworldly spot near Idaho Falls is a must-see. You can hike to the top of an inferno cone, check out caves, and take a 7-stop scenic drive.

St. Anthony Sand Dunes is just under an hour drive from Idaho Falls and offers a great place to have a bonfire, go dirt biking, or even sledding down the sand mountains! This is a popular date activity near Idaho Falls and Rexburg.
11. Fall Creek Falls

Fall Creek Falls has to be my favorite waterfall in Eastern Idaho! Located near Swan Valley, this waterfall is a short walk away from the edge of a road. Most people will come to just see it. But you can also climb down and actually cool off in the waterfall.

12. Darby Wind Caves

The last on our list of day trips from Idaho Falls is a great trail! The hike to the Darby Wind Caves is about 5 miles long, but worth it.
For the most part, when you reach the cave, you’ll find that it is pretty open. You’ll find however, there are a few parts that you’ll have to squeeze through.
If you make it to the top of the trail, you’ll find a very cold waterfall that you’re welcome to cool off in.
