Here are some locations in Utah where you can experience the cherry blossoms this year:
It’s that time of year again when the harsh, winter weather has passed and spring is in the air! Along with the change of season comes the beautiful cherry blossoms. Coincidentally enough, cherry blossoms symbolize renewal.
And although cherry blossoms are Japans’ National Flower, there’s no need to fly overseas to experience them. (You don’t even have to take that short flight to Washington DC to get some amazing photos.)
State Capitol, Salt Lake City
This may be my favorite place to see the cherry blossoms in Utah. With the breathtaking Capitol Building looming in the background, this is a perfect spot to take a few photos. Parking is free and the cherry blossoms line a path that circles the building. I recommend packing a picnic as there is plenty of grassy spots to choose from.
Temple Square, Salt Lake City
This is a win-win location because not only do you get to witness the many cherry blossoms trees, but also a lot of spring flowers that are blooming! A perfect date activity would be to walk through Temple Square and then stop by the City Creek Mall for lunch/dinner.
Capitol Reef
In the middle of Capitol Reef, you will find several orchards which blossom during the Spring. A unique location to see cherry blossoms with the sheer, red rocks cliffs in the background. I visited during the fall time last year, and the scenery was spectacular so I can only imagine what it must look like during this season. If you want to take a look at some photos of Capitol Reef during my fall trip, you can find them here.
Find your local fruit orchard!
Some of our favorites include Manning Orchards in Fruit Heights and Smith’s Orchard in Provo. If you are planning on taking pictures at any fruit orchard, call ahead to get permission to do so.
