A beautiful scenic drive with plenty of hot springs along the way? Count me in! Idaho is my husband’s home state and I’ve made a concentrated effort to see more of it with him. So when the opportunity presented itself to take a three-day road trip through that beautiful state, we, of course, said yes!

This guide will be broken up into three days of adventure because there is no way you can see all of the hot springs along our route in a single day. It is also helpful because we will break them up into regions just in case you aren’t able to fit the entire route into your plans.

On the Day 1 & 2 posts of The Ultimate Idaho Hot Springs Road Trip Guide, we shared some tips and recommendations on how to have great hot springs etiquette. Take a moment and look that list over so everyone can continue to enjoy these hot springs for a good long time.

Day 3

Our Route- Day 3 covers the route from Stanley, ID to Boise, ID. Go back and check out Day 1 & Day 2 if you missed it.

Sawtooth Lodge Geothermal Pool– This Geothermal Pool is part of the Sawtooth Lodge and provides a perfect opportunity to soak if you are traveling with a large group! Please note that they do charge $10 for adults and $5 for children. What’s nice is that they have restrooms and a changing area.

Bonneville Hot Springs– In order to get to these hot springs you have to take a light .25 mile walk on a well-used trail. The trailhead access can be found at the Northwest end of the Bonneville Campground. Bonneville hot springs have two parts. You can decide to use the built rock walled pools that are sitting at an incredible temperature! Or take a sock in a bathtub that is housed inside an old shack! This really is a once in a lifetime experience! You can find more information and photos of this hot springs here. 

Kirkham Hot Springs– Kirkham hot springs always make the “best hot springs in Idaho” list and for good reason! Located near the Boise National Forest, these hot springs feature shallow rock pools. In addition to the soaking pools, there are several hot waterfalls! Yup. You heard that right. Hot Waterfalls. The easiest way to find these springs going to the Kirkham campground. The springs are just a few steps away.

Haven Hot Springs– This is a cool little spot located right in the mountains! Haven Hot Springs not only has accommodations but tubs that you can soak in underneath the stars. This place really is a perfect gem in the Gem State. Day passes can be bought for $7.50 for adults and $5 for kids. Interested in soaking and possibly staying? Pine Flats Hot Springs-

For this hot spring, you’ll have to do a little bit of walking. 0.4 miles to be exact. Pine Flats Hot Springs feature a medium size pool that is filled with hot water from a waterfall. The view of the river is stunning while soaking. If you are up for a challenge, you can wade through the river around the bend where you find several more hot pools. You can find these hot springs by parking at the Pine Flats Campground and then following the worn trail. During the summer we are told that these hot springs can get quite busy so try going during the week if you want them all to yourself.

Idaho City Hot Springs Resort– If you are looking for a place to sleep after a long day of seeking our hot Springs there is no better place to do so than at The Springs Resort located in Idaho City. Not only can you book a room, but you can get access to the geothermal pool along with their private pools. Keep in mind that if you are traveling with children they have adult-only days throughout the week.
